11:54......when I was 22. I'll be 54 on Wednesday, and I'm significantly slower now.

SGT (Join to see) - I am impressed! I was mad at one APFT. I did 70 pushups at 35 and this 19 year old kid did 69 and got more points than me. lol

I was really good at football because I was usually one of the quickest players on the field. I had great vision as well. Playing two hand touch helped me. If someone could not touch me or get a good shot at me then they could not tackle me. My endurance was the best because for some reason I ran while my friends rode bikes. I am short and when I got handoffs I was slightly crouched and nobody on defense knew where I was because they could not see me.

I have a funny story. I was 12 and the youngest and smallest player on the team and I played safety I guess because I was fast. After we got our butts kicked in a game the coach at practice said we played like shit in an angry tone. Then he said the only person that played well was Ken. The older and bigger players look at me with disgust. What is funnier is I had no clue I played well.

I applied for OCS and wanted to give it my best shot so I ran and worked out after the work day. I would be a fool for not trying my best.

I have been retired for 10 years. I was lucky I guess in the respect that I retired for good at 45. When I jog I lament that jogging is a challenge now and rue I am a has been. With every step I take I think of my mortality and the meaning of life. I have to prove to myself that I have the mettle to not quit. The two pronounced and important words in my life are Don’t Quit. Agreed and for sure all the *ongoing* prep, distance and speed work. The “value add” for me on test day was to warm up prior to the two miler w/a light jog, some short speed work and stretches. That way at *the gun* was @ full stride from the get go. And —> wearing a decent chrono watch to check times @ 1/4, 1/2, mile, etc.
