Going out on a limb here, but I think Gettysburg should be replaced by Shiloh. Lee never would have gotten through the forts and garrisons around DC even if he won at Gettysburg. It was really just another big battle in the east. Shiloh cost the South their best general, A.S. Johnston, and kept the momentum in the west that the North had seized at Donelson.

Excellent share. We've been to Gettysburg several times. My husband took our oldest out to the Manassas (Bull Run) Battlefield this week.
