If one can meet the standards, then one can meet the standards. More potential candidates means an enhanced ability to find the cream of the crop.

Though I cannot stand political correctness and it's overreaching influence in our military, I think it has been a mistake to not integrate females into more combat roles for a very long time (this includes special operations). I have read countless arguments on ability to meet standards and arguments about inadequate biological makeup and so on, but history has shown that women hold a strong presence on the battlefield and their differences can actually be utilized to enhance the battlefield. I don't think allowing a female to become a seal will degrade the history of the seals, or any other component for that matter. If she could be the next American Sniper, why the hell would you deny her the use of her supreme talent just because she doesn't have all the same body parts?

Specialty roles have already been developed specifically for females that have improved conditions on the battlefield (such as CA and HUMINT that interact with the female population in the middle east). With all that said, I don't think standards should be lowered for women or anyone for that matter. The standards should be job specific and if a person cannot meet those standards, they cannot do said job.

It worked for Demi Moore?

/sarcasm off/

But in all seriousness, if they have the drive and motivation to do it without any changes to standards, then by all means let them. Our nation has always been defended by ALL Americans...why deny them the ability to train for the elite SOCOM units?
