We draw the line between suits and uniformed Officers for a reason. The years of experience becoming a GO provide them the means to convene and adjudicate with wisdom. If that fails, then regroup. Unless abuse of process is blatantly widespread, the UCMJ is vital to the separation of civilian and military oversight. IMO.

These aren’t “suits” but uniformed JAG officers & military law enforcement officers. They are legal professionals who take the same oath we all took. This bill places the responsibility for investigating these crimes on the very military professionals that are trained to do it. All “convening authorities” do is add a level of unnecessary bureaucracy into the Military Legal System. Let the military legal professionals; judges, SJAs, CID & MPs do their jobs without the undue influence of those with little military legal experience.
