I love things like this article that challenge our thinking, maybe primitive man wasn’t so primitive.

Seems to me these are a primitive but effective way of defense. How many enemy can run across your bridge to attack you at any one time? A small force could easily defend against a larger one. Fire would not be ab advantage of an attack weapon, these places sit atop the perfect defense against the use of it.
