She is absolutely correct. The vast majority of cases currently hospitalized for covid19 are the unvaccinated.
This is not rocket science. Before the vaccine, the virus was spiraling out of control and thousands of people were dying around the world daily. After the vaccine the number of deaths and hospitalization dropped off significantly. There is an obvious correlation between the two. The delta variant jumped out of India where vaccines were not being delivered timely and now we have an outbreak of a more contagious variant that is burning through people that simply chose to not get the vaccine. This is an outbreak of choice, plain and simple.

I got the vaccine, and it kept me from getting COVID when my wife got it and didn't tell me she was feeling sick for 5 days prior to getting tested. That aside, its a stupid thing to say that. Honestly if I was 30 again, I most likely would not have gotten it either. To me, its a risk you decide to take, and if you have problems, you deal with the results. But blaming people for something I feel was made by man, and released by mistake into the population, is stupid. Its going to mutate, and you can choose like people do with the flu every year to get the shot and the boosters that are to come, or deal with the virus if you get it. The older you get, the more you should plan on B to me. But blaming it on people who choose to not get it is stupid.

Your argument might have more strength if this wasn't a living organism that changes. Just a year in, the delta variant is already far more effective at infecting and replicating. Which means it's more capable of mutating into something that we don't have a vaccine for. We needed a program like we had in the 50s for polio, and for small pox. You probably didn't have to get those vaccines, BECAUSE THEY WORKED AND WE ERADICATED THE VIRUSES WHEN WE ALL GOT IMMUNIZED.

Now your argument can start chalking up infected and dying children. Shame on all who won't vaccinate themselves. How selfish can they show themselves to be?
