At least two tragedies here. An innocent was killed. The media will forever tag the killer as an ex-marine. That he wasn't is immaterial.

What is the point of telling us he spent a month in the Marines?

COL (Join to see) - What society will never understand is that the military is a microcosm of society...we cannot and are not perfect. We have thugs, rapists, murderers, thieves just like society...BUT when we find them out we get rid of them as they cant have that type of person in our ranks because we build our ranks on trust and respect of each other...when that is gone we have nothing left...but society thinks we are a band of angels and we are far from it.

SSG Edward Tilton Because that is what sells. Someone to blame...he was only in the marines a month but that made him a killer...right? Wrong...if he was that mentally unstable he probably shouldn't have been able to get in anyway...sometimes it happens...we aren't perfect but society thinks we are.

It's click bait. There was no relevance in saying he was washed out Marine any more than the relevance of his victim being an Army Combat veteran. It should have read man kills police officer and in return was shot dead by other responding police officers but it lacks the zing that they were looking for.
