To be a good leader requires not the theoretical but the practical aspects of leadership. Leadership is situational. Sometimes one needs to be an Alpha and Bravo type. It requires good planning and communication skills to include the concept of the operations. Good leadership creates an appropriate culture of values, expectations, and standards. Hold subordinate leaders feet to the fire in order to delegate.

Sometimes I was authoritarian, a servant, motivator, and a parent. However, the most important leadership trait in my mind is genuinely caring and taking care of people. Also, have some damn fun.

I believe in all personnel classes I've taken over the years (and there were a lot) that reviewed personality types and how to work with them: they always showed how everyone is needed on the team, even the grenades.
