Afghanistan: Blinken blames Afghan military for ‘being unable to defend country’

The US is rushing to complete a full withdrawal of its embassy in Kabul within 72 hours as Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Sunday blamed the Afghan military for “being unable to defend the country”.
“The fact of the matter is we’ve seen that that force has been unable to defend the country,” Secretary Blinken told CNN’s State of the Union on Sunday. “And that has happened more quickly than we anticipated.”
He added: “That status quo was not sustainable. Like it or not, there was an agreement that forces would come out on May 1. Had we not begun that process... then we would have been back at war with the Taliban... with tens of thousands of troops.”

I served over there and to know it's coming down to this, the sacrifice of so many VETS, PO1 William "Chip" Nagel great share my friend, keep them coming, I am thankful for all these great reads share Brother Wiiliam.

That guy is a tool. It amazes me how after Vietnam and Iraq these politicians still act surprised that these forces collapse. All the signs are there. The troops flip flopped between supporting the ANA and the Taliban, their commanders were corrupt, troops aren't getting paid or resupplied, cronies get promoted... It was a mess so for Biden to sit there and think this collapse wasn't going to happen makes him look like a total idiot. He just put his foot in his mouth again. I don't disagree with the pullout but no one should've been surprised at the outcome.

If our General’s had only implemented the ACFT and issued them the pinks and greens, things could have been different said sarcastically. But what is the excuse for not having the evacuation plan ready? Like inviting 100 people for dinner and when they show up is when you try to figure out what you are going to do.
