I believe I understand what you are saying. In this instance I believe we need to remember these people/tribes have been at one another's throats for thousands of years.

They believe they can sweet talk anybody into what they want to do. My grandchildren have a better sense of the real world that the clowns who made up our exit plan in Afghanistan.

There were occaisions when General Dotsoms Northern Alliance cruely murdered over a thousand Taliban prisoners, with the General and his CIA advisors watching. This isn't a kiss and makeup thing. The Taliban are living in their world, not ours.

SSG Edward Tilton - While I remember the Dasht-i-Leili massacre I didn’t realize the true scope of it; after reading this in Wikipedia (a source I don’t always trust) I don’t know if we will ever know exactly what happened. The general outline is prisoners were taken; the prisoners staged an uprising that was put down brutally.

Your point is well taken, these tribes have been at war with one another for thousands of years, they don’t kiss and make up, they get even, even if it takes generations. Thanks for the history lesson.

My personal opinion: He cares nothing about anything other than enriching himself and his family. That has been made abundantly clear over the years. The rest? He will do or say anything to get in and keep power and access.
