Missouri teacher resigns after school tells him to remove Pride flag

A Missouri teacher resigned last week after administrators in his school district told him he had to take down his Pride flag and that he couldn’t discuss human sexuality or “sexual preference” at school.
John M. Wallis, 22, who taught speech, theater and world mythology, said he hung a rainbow Pride flag in his classroom at Neosho Junior High School on the first day of school to create a welcoming environment for all students — and he said students noticed.
“I had, on the first day, about five students that came up to me and thanked me,” he said. “They said: ‘Thank you for having the flag up. I wouldn’t know where else to go.’”
But just two days later, on Aug. 26, Wallis said, he was called into a meeting with administrators, who told him that a parent had called and expressed concern that Wallis “would potentially teach their child to be gay.”

SrA John Monette The flag doesn't just stand for "gay". It also includes trans and all the other ridiculous gender bs. My daughter isn't gay. And yes, the flag states explicitly that the teacher seeks to prop up those and those messages and political beliefs, which, by default, requires other to be beneath them.
And I frankly couldn't care about the respect of certain people. And those who don't understand why this is an issue would definitely make the list.

SrA John Monette The state flag being flown in the state does signify that that state is held higher within its borders. The same goes for national flags. This isn't difficult to understand. But, what's more, if the LGBT flag is a symbol for a political stance. It's sole purpose is to celebrate and lift up its stance. How is this so hard for you to wrap your head around, kiddo?

SrA John Monette they are being treated as equals. As you eluded to, there's no "straight pride" flag being displayed. I'm sure no teacher would get away with flying a Trump 2024 flag in their room. You continue to jump in with ridiculous non sequiturs, too lol. Bud, go sit down at the kiddie table. You're not equipped to have talks with grown ups just yet lol
