SFC (Join to see) If that concept is successful, would they please share it with California? The concept could replace Jerry Brown’s train to no-where which is still contentious, is not going anywhere and consumes jillions of taxpayer dollars.

While it's intriguing, I don't believe it will solve all our problems. :)

Yeah where California went wrong was they eliminated the 50% support from the private sector for the LA to SFO high speed line. Then they adopted a "spare no expense" approach to construction of drilling through the base of mountain ranges instead of climbing them like regular trains.

CSM Charles Hayden - Yes, Governor Jerry Brown is conventional and going nowhere fast, I never saw Brown’s name mentioned in this article. I believe the article I provided is something else altogether. No one is more sensitive to engineering and cost than I am. Will this new Hyperloop prototype work? I don’t know, but as I mentioned in a response to Guenther: there may be many potential benefits to society form successful technologies, even if they don't become everyday stuff.

In early history it took the better part of a year to get across our Country. If I read this right it would take a little less than 3 hours.

SFC (Join to see) - Wow, that would be faster than a jet, a lot faster. I imagine it will take about as long to build as the first railroad too lol....

PFC David Foster - You have that right! The geometry of the infrastructure and the right of way needed will be astronomical. As with most things, if the need is there it will happen. If we discover some items that can help society during development of this technology, as we did in the race to space, it will be worth it.
