In February I wrote an op-ed for the Stamford Advocate which highlighted the importance of Troops to Teachers - a federal program designed to help veterans successfully transition into the education field after their time in the service. I am disheartened that the program was killed off by the Department of Defense earlier this month. However, I am thankful to see so many advocates pushing back to revive the program and offer my support in their efforts.

What a shame. As a teacher myself, I can testify to the need for veterans in our schools as leaders.

Any job where our heros and can be placed in a position of leadership or even just to make a difference in the community is an amazing opportunity. Most Troops took on the uniform to make a difference. It's inspiring to see programs like these come into play.
