If more products had a "Made in U.S.A" sticker on them we wouldn't be having so much congestion at the Ports.

You are 100% correct however American workers are expensive. I have a close friend that in 1994 was making $19/hr to make tires and when I graduated with a bachelor's in nursing in 2003 I started at $18/hr. Expensive American workers creates a market for illegals down south. I do not like how China treats its unskilled workers but they know their place in society and don't expect wide screen TVs and new car. I am sure I will take some heat here but until people accept reality of the US market and what the unskilled worker needs to be it will not change or get better.

Yup!! Most truckers are independent contractors. With this law they can't go into the shipyards and pickupfreight. Additionally with the Unions blocking them from entering it's the perfect storm for a continuing crisis.

It seems to Me corruption in Unions tends to align with the so called Democratic political party. and that sure isn't anything new. Considering the Democrats are no friend to working American's the alliance make no sense but there it is ! I'm not against Unions per-se but against a dirty segment that are also politically motived instead of looking out for their members which pretty much followed the Democrats as a political party. Union's actually are needed and because of the abuse of Management. A in residence Management course I had taken actually said 85% of the labor problem are directly attributed to Management and without that abuse the Union's wouldn't be needed. That's certainly not going away quickly with private Management greed and being power crazy and self serving in both public and private sectors.

I was a Police Union Official for over 20 years and understand quite well what negative things would have happened without the Union. Three Police Chiefs in three different communities while I served the Union were terminated due to that abuse. One chief that left after firing officers without justification cost the municipal Government thousand of dollars in fine, restitution and back pay to the officers. The town had also wasted $100,000 in legal fees for a 100 % misguided effort. Other Chiefs were brought under control with their abuses, one for example 19 out of 19 Cases against the Chief were were ruled in favor of the Union after hearing at the Commonwealth of Massachusetts State Board of Labor and Industries. These were case I was involved with as a Police Union Official especially as an elected Officer at State Council 351, AFL-CIO. I've also worked management in both the Military and in the civilian sector. As a civilian I had 350 employees under My direct Management control for a few years. I had other Managers (account and area Managers) and supervisors that worked for Me but did delegate authority and never micro managed, that NEVER works well. If You treat Your employees properly they will do things not because the have to but that they want to and productivity become much higher. NOT all managers do that and thus the problem and they never learned to work with their employees as part of the team but instead had little Kingdoms to rule over them and that's a prime reason Union's are needed !
