The Marine Corps, the smallest U.S. military force, has plans for a big overhaul designed to address its lack of diversity and problem with retaining troops.
The goal that's driving what amounts to a cultural shift within the service, is for the Marines "to reflect America, to reflect the society we come from," Gen. David Berger, commandant of the Marine Corps, said in an interview with NPR's Morning Edition.

I'd love to know how they come up with the "lack of diversity". In an all volunteer force you will never reflect the society. The only way you will ever get a service to truly reflect the populations is by bringing back the draft, and then they'd have to send out call up notices in such a way that they were divided by percentage based on the percentage of the population of each race/nationality. In an all volunteer force, there will ALWAYS be more of race "A" enlisting than race "B" just based mathematically on the percentages. Sounds like more feel good social experimenting using the military as the test subject.
