As House Republican leader Kevin McCarthy wound his way through what would become a more than eight-and-a-half hour jeremiad against Democrats’ Build Back Better Act and the Biden administration in general, House Democrats chose to pass the time by mocking the California congressman.

You seem to define conservatives as diabolically minded villains bent on increasing suffering, SrA John Monette.
Instead of lumping everybody who disagrees with you into your most-vilified stereotypes, why don't you try wrapping your head around TANSTAAFL as a baseline conservative measuring stick?
When a bunch of well-intentioned folks realize that shutting down the economy is going to make it hard for a lot of folks to pay their rent and decide that evil landlords shouldn't be allowed to evict anyone, it's us kill-joy conservatives who try asking "How do the bills get paid when 1 in 3 tenants stops paying rent? Do we ask the plumber to work for free? Or should we short the bank which loaned us money from people's savings?"
Or to borrow SGT (Join to see)'s reasoning, if you're opposed to oil pipelines, you must favor torching more towns like Lac-Mégantic because one of the major reasons for pipelines is to move large volumes of oil more efficiently and with greater safety than dragging it around in tank cars.
