What an uncouth headline, that tries to divide our people instead of unite them in what is right. Three people run down to injure and/or kill him and he’s not able to protect himself. How sad people in our society believes in the hate of the Left.

LTC David Brown Thank you for sharing. I appreciate your help in groping our way to understanding. I saw it. The entire thing was just heartbreaking. So many mistakes, questions, misunderstandings, fears, and errors in judgment. My son is about Kyle's age and recently was a victim of gun violence. The frustration of being unable to prevent it is intense. Being so close to the issue is scary to me. I hate that I fear so much.

SSgt Joseph Baptist Perhaps you meant to mute me, brother. To clarify: I saw it. I also saw a lot more than the trial, much like I saw during the OJ Simpson trial. I did not believe he was innocent of the crime. I still don't believe he's innocent and he was found "not guilty" around twenty years ago. Please pardon any and all of my words that you disbelieve or find disagreeable. Your views are important to me since I am trying to make sense of all this. My son is at the end of his sophomore year of college and Ithaca, NY has always been the ideal "college" town. (Cornell ~does~ have a lovely, sprawling, green campus!) However, I subscribe to a local paper. I've seen a huge increase in violence there since the beginning of the school year. When an angry girlfriend fired seven rounds at the guy who lives above him, one bullet went through my son's sliding glass door. I'm still reeling. I just don't understand.

SSgt Joseph Baptist (I am not going to respond to the "fast and loose" part of your post, brother.)
Exactly . Firearms don't help resolve these encounters.

Arrested, tried by a jury of his peers, despite having been tried in the media, was found not guilty on all counts...like it or not that is the justice system...the left is already calling him a white racist nationalist and NOWHERE in this case were there anybody but white people...explain that...seems like nowadays when anyone disagrees from the right they are either privileges, white nationalist, or racists...that card is being overplayed. The kid was found not guilty...let it go and Biden/Harris need to do the same...quit trying to spark up embers.

Considering the environment he was in and the specific circumstances, I am impressed at how restrained he was. I am a firearms instructor and I don't think that I would function as well as Rittenhouse did. When you are attacked, you do have to act as judge, jury and attack-stopper.

I'd recommend him for Special Forces.

@Hellenbrand There was not murder. Well-aimed shots at ONLY youtr attackers when defending yourself, only shooting until the target is down or retreating, and then moving towards the police? Yeah, I'd call that restraint.

SFC Randy Hellenbrand - what a childish inappropriate statement and politics should have no role in our justice system, but unfortunately we have social justice dweebs that wish to corrupt anything to get their perceived reactions. This is the erosion of our Republic and you seem to want to dance around it’s flames of destruction!!

SSgt Joseph Baptist - considering his stated limited experience with the firearm I think this young man showed great restraint and ability to recognize true dangers and eliminate them while recognizing others as less dangerous and moving forward to safety. I’d like to see what he could do in the kill house after some training. I hope this young man can find his way into the military where I believe he’d thrive!!

SFC Randy Hellenbrand - he showed restraint by waiting until it was clear that shooting was the only resort. Shooting was indeed his last resort. Some people here seem to wish so bad that Kyle had been killed and I can't understand why. We don't wish Kyle's attackers are dead; we would have preferred they didn't attack Kyle or loot/riot/steal/etc in the first place.
