On Monday, Dec. 20, Navy officials said they will start the first phase of flushing out its water system as large water filtration systems will begin to arrive in the islands.

..."The first phase will begin at the Pearl City peninsula and AMR neighborhoods. This plan will break down the 250 miles of piping into 19 zones, according to the Navy.
“We’ve developed those zones so we can individually flush each zone, we flush the system. we confirm it’s safe, and then we flush the homes and test a percentage of the homes that represent a good sample and that we’re able to declare — neighborhood by neighborhood — that the drinking water is in fact safe for consumption,” explained Capt. Miguel Dieguez.
Dieguez also added that the entire process will take between 30 to 45 days to complete. The Navy also held another town hall meeting on Saturday, Dec. 18, to discuss the Drinking Water Distribution System Recovery Plan."...
