Very interesting. I believe it makes sense to invest in and develop these modalities, and I would not be surprised if the West is slightly behind. That being said, I'm not convinced that you will not still need a highly trained and capable cadre of "boots on the ground". Throughout history warfare has always developed and implemented technological advances and used them to advantage, but it has always been the troops on the ground that have secured that advantage.

First off, "future warfare" is already here. Many of the aspects of a major conflict between the West and say, Russia or China, have already been developed, rehearsed and deployed.
