I agree. The leaders of megachurches are living quite well. When politicians look for tax money, they seem to always go after smokers and drinkers. Sin Tax.

It's interesting to see how people change when they stop blindly believing what they've been spoon fed and start applying critical thinking to the situation. I've gone through this myself without even knowing it had a name or that others were going through the same growth.

Most of the issues I have with organized Christianity are with the evangelical sects. I grew up in a Southern Baptist church that was pretty mild compared to some today. Even with that, there are beliefs I look back to and realize how silly they are. Religion and faith can be good things if they are used to help individuals and others. When they are used against people, though, they become harmful. The lack of understanding within the masses to the realities of the Bible and the circumstances, languages, cultures, etc., in which it was written is a large part of the problem. From there, manipulative people looking for money and power use that lack of understanding to delude others into all sorts of negative and divisive beliefs and actions.

It also feels that as this evangelical group gets smaller, they get louder and more isolated. I wonder how much longer until some of these groups start down the road to the next Jonestown scenario.
