Here are my questions:
- Does the VA need more funds?
- Will we the facilities and staff need to be increased?
- What is the impact to current users of VA hospitals?
- Is service connected no longer a criterion?

Yes; the VA needs more funding, right now, to handle the load they already have.
Yes, the VA staff and facilities need to be increased now; not just in the future if this passes.
No impact yet.
Service-connected criterion; according to the article, it will be for Service Members who meet VA eligibility requirements the day they EOS.

That's if the Republican Senate doesn't trash it like they have done many times. Time will tell.

Not sure this makes sense...
"Instead of formally applying for VA medical services, department officials would automatically add them to the system if they met the requirements for eligibility."

You can't meet eligibility requirements until you apply, submit your healthcare records, and undergo an evaluation to assess your rating. Once you do so, enrollment is very easy. You just have to get off your ass and do it.

Q: if the VA or the Service can make an immediate decision about the eligibility requirements for an EOS'ing Active Duty member prior to Honarable Discharge, what does that say about the current time factor for eligibility determinations in place at the VA?

PO1 John Johnson beats me. However they do provide back pay from the date of separation/retirement once you receive your rating so I still don’t understand what the point of this move is. If anything, I’d be concerned if I did not get an opportunity to identify and explain the issues I’m dealing with.
