An interesting poll. I'm surprised it isn't higher. I agree that sometimes violence against a government is justified. I'm sure (taking the US off the table) it wouldn't take too long for any of us to think of a government somewhere in history where a violent upheaval is needed.
I guess the real question is, is violence justified against our government right now? I'd say no. We've had some civil unrest around police violence. We've had some around militia groups. Not great, but nothing compared to the sh!t show an actual civil war would be.
In my mind a lot of this is driven by income inequality. The middle class has been squeezed out over the last 40 years and the working poor have to work multiple jobs just to survive. Gilded ages just are not sustainable. It's going to lead to more and more civil unrest perhaps with a dose of domestic terrorism mixed in until we find a way to resolve it.

I agree the Left is using a threat of Civil War in their censor campaigns of discussions going on now. However, we are no where near a Civil War in this country not even close to the divisions of the 1860s. Additionally back then they had imperfect information so rabble rausers and infiltrators played a huge role in spreading campaigns of BS prior to a succession vote and influencing mass public opinion swings prior to the successionist votes. That cannot happen today with 24 by 7 news. We will never have another Civil War in this country.

Yes, I don't think we are near a civil war right now. What as I see as more likely is civil unrest like we had in the late '1960s and early '1970s. Perhaps some domestic terrorism like what happened with the Weather Underground, lots of protests, some riots. Over the next decade or so they will eventually taper off. That's my hope anyway.
