Fathers Day is celebrated in a number of nations on varying dates. Will you celebrate fathers day?
Fathers Day is celebrated in this nation on June 21 this year. Fathers Day is celebrated in Australia, Canada, India, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, and the United Kingdom.
For many Fathers Day is a time of honoring and remembering relationship with fathers and past traditions while current fathers are building relationships and continuing or establishing their own traditions.
For some Fathers Day brings back many painful memories - either because of the recent death of a father, the absence of a father while growing up or an abusive father.
I hope and pray that each person remembers the good about their father this weekend. For those who have wronged or been abused, I pray that confession will be offered and forgiveness and reconciliation will take place.

Hallmark and the the free cards distributed via the Internet may have captured the bulk of the market share of profits with the exception of restaurants; but, families celebrating and honoring their fathers/husbands still seems to be the biggest focus
On July 19, 1910, the governor of the U.S. state of Washington proclaimed the nation’s first “Father’s Day.” However, it was not until 1972, that the day became a nationwide "holiday" in the United States.

Chris, I am curious why you posted your response under SFC Joseph Weber's response instead of under your own response. In any event I did not infer from your response that you were opposed to fathers day. I concur that honoring our parents while they are alive and after they have departed should be done throughout the year. That being said I am glad our nation still honors and hopefully encourages fathers and mothers.

Good catch! I just plain ol "got it wrong" and put it in the wrong place!! SO, I cut it out of that location and...here it is (as I still feel it is a worthy statement!): I am not opposed to it. I generally feel that honoring father/mother should be done more then just on one specific day. I am always just pleased if we have some quality family time!

I will celebrate it in whatever creative way my daughter comes up with. She already told me that she cannot tell me what she is going to do, and even tried to give me hints but the hints were more confusing than not having any information?
I love the mind of 6 year old. It reminds me that there are amazing things all around us.

To be childlike and not childish is very difficult as we age. Hopefully your daughter will retain her child likeness well into the future and bless you with a great "surprise" for fathers day.

If you have a father (that would be all of us) you should honor your father every single day. Same goes for your Mother! :-)
