I have worked in the plumbing and HVAC trade since my military days, after a short stint in chicken processing and selling kitchens. I asked my Moen rep one day at a golf tournament I was playing at, how the local Home Depot can sell the same faucet I buy to people, for less than I pay for it? He replied, they will tell our company, I want 6 tractor trailer loads of this model faucet, and I am willing to pay you this. Moen would agree to do it for the volume, because when I buy them, maybe I would get a box of 6. I am pretty sure its the same there. Acme or Wallmart says I want 10 tractor trailer loads of mayo to Hellmans, my local grocer buys it a case of 12 at a time. As people, we walk in there and see it for $4.75 a jar at the small store, and think I can buy that at Wallmart for $3.25, they are soaking us here, when in reality, they most likely make less on the jar. This is what leads to the death of small business. Because while everyone cheers on the little guy on social media, with their wallets, they choose the cheapest place. We pay top rates, pay 70% of health insurance, all life insurance, disability insurance, matching IRA's. When I quote a replacement HVAC system, no one cares, they pick the guy who is $500 less, its life.

Yup, and also why there are so few major manufacturers left in the US.
