APOD: 2022 March 22 - A Whale of an Aurora over Swedish Forest

Good morning, Rallypoint, and welcome to the March 22nd Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD): "A Whale of an Aurora over Sweden." Auroras lit up the skies at mid to high latitudes around March 13th. People in the northernmost U.S., Canada, Northern Europe, and southernmost New Zealand and Australia caught the expected show. The display stemmed from an Earth-directed coronal mass ejection (CME), which blasted away from the Sun on March 10, 2022 and reached Earth three days later. Here is what it looked like outside of Ostersund, Sweden.
