APOD: 2022 March 28 - Gems of a Maldivean Night

Good evening, Rallypoint, and welcome to the March 28th Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD): "Gems of a Maldivean Night." We travel to the Indian Ocean this evening, looking south over the island of Madivaru. Overhead is the Southern Cross, the bright stars to the left are (in order) Beta Centauri (aka Hadar) and Alpha Centauri, and the Carina Nebula is to the right. A sight normally reserved for our Navy and Special Ops colleagues, or others who might have had reason to visit Diego Garcia. Simply beautiful.
