Yes, it should have, 1972 I had a good army buddy Tobin, from British Samoa, all he wanted was to live in the US.
Before the army, he worked on cruise ships as a laborer. Twice he was deported from California as an illegal alien, he said all he wanted was to live with his relatives in California.
Funny, if he did that now a days, he would be welcome with open arms, and given a free education and other free benefits.

Tobin, joined the Army because he was told if he enlisted for 4 years in the army, he would automatically be a US citizen. Don't know if that was true then, I heard the same from Filipino servicemen too.

Tobin, was a very smart guy, in 72 he got his private pilot license while we at Bragg as an E-2 in the army.
He told me his goal was to get his commercial flying license, and work flying commercial aircraft. Hope he was able to do that in the early 70's.

Tobin, didn't like being in the field in the army, funny, he volunteered as Airborne Infantry. He did that, due to he was told he would get $55 extra a month by jumping out of an airplane. Lol

Tobin, then signed up as part of the 82nd airborne boxing team, due he was told he didn't have to go to the field, if he was with the boxing team. Lol
What was funny, he became the battalion boxing champion, he told me, it was easy winning, all he had to do was, hit the guy one time, and the guy fell down. Hahahahahaha!

In December of 1972, I got transferred to the DMZ Korea, and that was the last time I saw Tobin. I just hope and wish, that he got his dream being a commercial pilot.

Tobin and I, at Fort Bragg in 1972, take care my brother, hope you're out there flying.

By the way, Tobin walked around in the barracks in his Lava Lava, and no one would dare tease him about it. Lol

If you did your time, you served and we're discharged honorably, and you want to stay here, then you should not be at the front of the line. You should be in an entirely separate line. With concierge service.
