According to the link, 10,000 steps puts one in the 5 mile range. Depending on pace that puts most healthy folk in the 60-90 minute range. For the less-than-healthy, aged and easily distracted, that could be a couple hours. Is it possible, sure. Does it fit into most people's time priorities, probably not.

I just do a lot of my chores less "mechanically assisted." Ancient Chinese proverb "A fat man should give up his gym membership and riding lawn mower for a walk behind push powered mower."

Walking definitely improves your health (both physical and mental) but 10000 is not necessarily the right goal for everyone. Mine is closer to 12,000 and includes a mandatory 30 min of aerobic exercise daily

That sounds like a very reasonable exercise program.

If it gets people up off their fat arses 10,000 sounds like a good start.
