There is 100% hypocrisy in this country when it comes to religion. I am no fan of any religion. As long as people don't push it on me, have at your beliefs.

But you all know that if ANY other religion were to do the same thing on this plane - private or not - or any religion started praying in public anywhere Christians would be outraged and attack them.

All she did was write: "“I think my family and I should have a prayer session next time I am on a plane. How do you think it will end?”" And she got harassed and attacked online. Muslims especially have been demonized since 9/11. People don't blink twice when Christians are proclaiming their faith but anyone else does it...immediate suspicion. It's a horrible double standard she pointed out and proved.

I saw that clip. And I immediately thought it was obnoxious, and wondered where the hell the air crew was to tell them to get their asses in their seats and shut up. And then I realized the LACK of that sort of action likely meant this was a private flight. If it was a private flight booked for their group, get on wit' yo bad self. If it was not, then I go back to my original assessment - obnoxious idiots who need to be told by the air crew to sit down and shut up.

Which is pretty much the same reaction I would have to Omar and her family standing in the aisles and doing a public prayer. But if she and her family wanted to sit near each other, hold hands, and do a QUIET prayer amongst themselves - even if it could be overheard a row or two away by someone TRYING to listen - I would be just fine with it.

Signed,
An everyday Christian

Well, you know that the right would never allow a Muslim family to pray on an airplane without automatically thinking "terrorists".

SrA John Monette Well ... I am about as far right as it gets. And there is usually a pretty obvious difference between a family quitetly praying amongst themselves and a group of MAMs conspiring for imminent action. No matter the language.

Having spent time in the Middle East this is rather mild. If she was bothered she could have told the flight attendant and the flight attendant would have told the pastor to sit down.

She wasn't on the flight - she just simply pointed out the double standard between Christians in the US and those considered "religious minorities" in the US. And then her point was proven when people doubled down on her comment.
