There are folks around here who can't eat red meat any longer... highly allergic...the doctors said it was probably from a tick bite and it hit pretty quick...friend of ours son is one of them....one week he was enjoying a nice juicy steak...two weeks later he went into anaphylactic shock after two bites...had no idea...they traced it back somehow to a brown tick bite.

Lt Col Scott Shuttleworth yes I've read of that in the literature, the tick first takes a meal from a cow and when it bites a human causes this anaphylaxis reaction when the person eats beef. It can happen with any meat. I have read that it can resolve with the passage of time. How much time I don't remember.

Tick bites are a growing problem. Make sure you check after you come in from being outside. And check your pets and kids as well. There are lots of ways to discourage ticks both commercial sprays and essential oils.

Lt Col Charlie Brown in the past 30 or so years I think I've tried everything with differing degrees of success. The main thing is to remain vigilant and have someone to check the places you can't.

I knew getting bit by a tick was not good for you but now we have something more to worry about especially if you live in Maine.

MAJ Bob Miyagishima that's just one of many diseases carried by ticks here in the US. The CDC puts out a booklet every few years that documents the prevalence, diseases and treatment of tick borne diseases.

PO2 Russell "Russ" Lincoln instead of just saying NO, just stay out of the woods and in your backyard. Lol

MAJ Bob Miyagishima - I have to spread granules about every 3 months to keep them out of my yard. The hazard of living in a wooded area.
