This is a good article. I was about to be drafted in 1969 so I just volunteered for the draft. I have no regrets. I felt it was a duty for living in this great country. I did my 2 years and got out. and was willing to serve but not to make a career of the military.

I registered for the Selective Service on my 18th birthday. I was accosted by a long haired draft dodger (he was very proud to tell me) who tried to prevent me from filling out the form. I told him to eff off in a very nice way.

MAJ Dale E. Wilson, Ph.D. I avoided the draft completely. I never registered. I signed to join the Marines when I was seventeen. It turned out to be the best move I ever made.
