This will be a fascinating ongoing discussion. What is not really discussed in the article is the bottom line that it is boots on the ground That provide the view of who is winning and who is losing, Ukraine is a good example. The sinking of the Movska was huge as is the ongoing loss of Russian tanks. That being said the worlds eye is on who is holding what territory, how much land is Russia occupying and how much territory is Ukraine holding. I always worry that the military/industrial complex sees huge profits in the development of newer technologies. Not that they are not needed but I'm not convinced that sometimes profit does not outweigh logic. Live long and prosper.

..."What did the Moskva do during the Crimean crisis?
During the 2014 Crimean Crisis, Moskva was responsible for blockading the Ukrainian fleet in Donuzlav Lake. On 17 September 2014, she was deployed to the Mediterranean Sea, taking shift from guard ship Pytlivy."
