I listen to some of this and everything said made more sense than anything said by the progressive left. I also agree that if parents want change, they need to get involved at their children's school, ask questions of the school board and principal about that schools security measures, waiting on the federal government to do something is a folly. The changes and solutions will come much faster at a grassroots level.

Parents are the key. If parents won't educate their children, the way they should be why do some believe the government will do any better?

Some people use planes to murder, or pipe bombs. Not to mention knifes. Last Christmas, a bunch of white folks got ran over by a truck. 2.5 years ago the Red Death covered the globe.
The agenda is disarm and it is a global agenda. I wonder why SFC?

It's called Marxism. The fools Progressive Democrats and Republicans) pushing are the useful idiots of Communism, or actually believe they can make 100% government control work. It never has and it never will.

SFC (Join to see) - I do not think those voting for such an agenda are true believers. But they are true believers of the monies they make for carrying the water of global Marxism.

Cpl Mark A. Morris - Some of them have been in power for so long they feel entitled. After a while the mind can rationalize anything.

The other things that can be done, without waiting for politicians is "Alice" training. Basically, Active Shooter training. First the teachers, staff and admin (and school resource officers, security officers), and then the children. Just like they have fire drills and we used to have "nuke"/tornado/bomb drills. That is one of the things that happens, in the dangerous scenario, people freak and do dumb things because they don't know what to do. Two of the school that my hubby taught at in the past did them, and he is pushing for the school he is at now to do them. It gives people courage to have that preparation. And while it may not go perfectly, it will likely have far better outcomes. And it works for DV situations in school, too, which tend to cause far more lock-downs in schools. And yes, if a kid decides to shoot the school up, someone may say, then they will know all the "plans". True, but they will also know that people are prepared, and that may stop it right there, and they will go for a softer target.

I'm not disagreeing with you, but one of the inherent problems with training students at a school in "active shooter" survival skills; the school active shooter is usually one of the students. If they are at all tactically smart, they can use their knowledge of the defensive plan to increase the casualties.

People don't want to hear it, but in some cases the intended victims (even the youngest of children) may have to take the offense. Those that take the risks increase the possibility that they personally will suffer grievous bodily harm, but in the end, the casualty list may be a lot shorter. That kind of training changes children and robs them of some innocence.

Maj John Bell - Agreed, as I mentioned above. They may know the plans, but being a "kid" may think twice about engaging.
The thing is, they don't report the school shootings that DIDN'T happen.....so it's hard to tell how it would shake out in the end.

And I totally agree, a shooting or any violent act (When I was growing up, knifings in random gang fights were a problem, even if you weren't in a gang, if you just got in the way. And we had a kid throw a chair at a teacher and hit them in the head, knocking them out and requiring stitches), in a school, changes the children. Whether they "play dead" and wipe their classmates blood on them to stay safe. Or whether they are shot and survive, or whether they take down the shooter, or even whether they knew a plan, stuck with it and got out safe. Sadly, it is not the world of my childhood or our parent's childhood, and I would rather my children/g-kids were safe, or at least able to take care of themselves as much as possible. They are far more likely to come through the trauma that way, rather than being a helpless victim.

Just my opinion.

There is also the scenario where the perp gets in so quickly or undetected as may be the case here. The best plans can be negated by one simple mistake. I know people don’t like to hear it, but teachers who are qualified should be allowed to carry “if they want to”. MHO
