Why We Honor Our United States Flag and Anthem...

Good R.E.D. Friday Morning, my Brothers and Sisters on this Memorial Day Weekend... A few years ago I completed three (3) Tribute Videos with both a Country and Military theme... I will post each of them over the course of this Memorial Day Weekend... This first one deals with Why We Honor Our United States Flag and Anthem as I feel many of us around our Country have lost the significance of what these two things mean.... Below are the words I entered in my Video Description at that time... I hope somewhere deep within you will feel the Nationalism I have felt when I served and as I internalize these thoughts today...
Video Description:
"There has been an outburst of seemingly poor judgement by many people who fail to stand for Our Country's "Pledge of Allegiance" and the playing or singing of Our "National Anthem"... in essence using this kneeling or sitting as an act of protest against America, against the United States of America, its Flag and its Anthem... All seem to have their reasons, but our founding fathers sought to create a Country that was and is based on Freedom... Are there rules? Of course. We Have Our "Declaration of Independence", Our "U.S. Constitution" and we have Our "Bill of Rights". We, also, have a three tiered government based on an "Executive Branch", a "Judicial Branch" and "Law Making Branch", Our Congress. Is it perfect? Nothing is perfect, but it is closer than any other in Our world.
There are those that would annihilate us and those who see "Globalism" as the basis for a world government... There are those that would sacrifice our Freedoms for their own sake alone... We the people choose to Stand for Our Flag, Stand for Our Anthem as a solemn respect for what our Flag and Anthem have represented for over 200 years.
I offer this short tribute to all the people of the United States of America who believe in the rule of law, who respect our Country and will do anything to protect the freedoms we have. In creating this short video, I found John Williams, new rendition, of our Star Spangled Banner to be most uplifting... As a United States Air Force Disabled Veteran, I honor the solemn oath I took when I enlisted and will honor it until my last breath is taken... I stand and salute Our Flag and I stand and salute Our Anthem...
May we always be free, may we always set a positive example for all the world... God Bless the United States of America and Our Flag and the Republic for which it stands.."

I had a student last semester who refused to stand for the Pledge of Allegiance. It bothered me that someone could be that disrespectful to our flag and country. I never said anything because that could be me into hot water but it wasn't because I didn't want to. Yes, he was born here in the USA. Some foreign students I have show more respect that American born.

Cpl Vic Burk - Sometimes the young are never taught about Country, Flag, Anthem, Love, Discipline and more, by their parents and by the very school system that they go to, as many schools shy away from this as a matter of Policy. In my case, as I went through K-12, we saluted our Flag and we said a prayer before the classwork began... My Dad was in the US Navy in WWII, assigned to a light aircraft carrier Bon Homme Richard CV31, so I had discipline instilled in me... That doesn't seem to happen as much in today's environment as it should... I believe that is one reason why there is such a lack of respect today...IMHO...

Sgt (Join to see) I agree with you Brother. Today's youth are not taught the respect they should have for our great country.
