I have to stand outside my kids school and hit a buzzer with speaker and camera. Once I'm verified, I get buzzed in and the door unlocks. I then present my ID again and sign in to get a visitor badge at the front office. This is the case in many states but not all. There are more police at schools in America than nurses and counselors.

At our high school you get buzzed in and when you step in you are in a room that you also have to get buzzed out of after they verify who you are and what your business is there. When we went to school all doors were open. In one school the gym was open for use by us in the evening. The idea that you might not be safe at school was totally foreign to us

Controlling access to the school is not turning it into prison. As it is now anyone can walk off the street and into a school unchallenged. Heck mackup in Walmart is better protected then our schools are today.

Capt Gregory Prickett - I got the graphic from this video. When I researched the numbers I looked at FBI stats and CDC.gov (firearm mortality by state)

I wonder do they lump suicides committed by firearm as a statistic? Might make sense why Alaska is number 1.

MAJ (Join to see) - Yes suicides are included. It kind of makes me wonder why you always hear talk about Chicago when it comes to gun violence but never Alabama and they are #2 behind Alaska.
