"How did cattle ranching affect the quality of the land?
As more and more ranchers grazed their animals on the open range, the quality of the land became degrade d. Cattle are not native to the Americas, and had to compete with native grazing animals, such as bison, for forage. Grasses did not have time to grow on the open range, especially in winter."
