I get that he lauds the efficacy of tourniquets, but he shouldn't recommend that everybody maintain a supply of them without first strongly emphasizing the critical importance of supervised training by medical personnel. All he really did was to recommend having them on hand, but he failed to mention the dangers of improperly-applied tourniquets (i.e. by untrained users) which include neurovascular and muscle damage, reperfusion injuries, tissue death, etc., as well as the contraindications for use (severe peripheral vascular disease--which is not uncommon in seniors; Sickle celll disease; and severe crush injuries). Those warnings should have been vigorously emphasized in this piece.
