He is correct about the points he enumerated here but let me focus on one. My career in nursing goes back far enough to remember "Back Street, Knitting Needle, attempts of self-abortion". Or, someone they were directed to, who performed abortions, at a price. In either instance, many used a knitting needle, or worse, a bent wire coat-hanger, in an attempt to bring about an abortion. Not understanding the anatomy, their chosen implement is deflected off of the cervix, entering the vaginal fornix, piercing the vaginal mucosa, and peritoneum, thereby entering the peritoneal cavity, invariably causing peritonitis.

Being concerned about their actions, many of these unfortunate women, and teenage girls, suffer extreme pain, are scared of obtaining medical assistance, and sadly often succumb to the sequelæ, of death.

The circumstances of many illegal abortions are extraordinarily demonstrated in the movie “Alfie”, starring Michael Caine, with Denholm Elliott as the abortionist, a performance which was, to say the least, scary in the extreme. The married female involved is seduced by Alfie, and during this one-night stand, becomes pregnant, desperate for an abortion, before her husband, played by Alfie Bass, finds out. Denholm Elliot truly brought home to his audiences, an atmosphere of reality. Yes, it is a movie, very early in Michael Caines's career, but if you have not seen it, I recommend it to you.

I write this to bring to people’s eyes, the potential consequences of entering into such a venture. The bottom line is that few obtain the consequences they desire. I condemn the actions of our Supreme Court in their overriding of Row-v-Wade, I would rather see the demise of an early foetus, than the death of a teenage daughter, single adult female, or a wife.

LTC George Morgan excellent explanation of what many may turn to & the potential consequences. Decisions like this don't hit home until it's a loved one. Thanks George!
