I am not for dismissing any literature...especially historical literature...you can learn from it all.

Imagine inviting the author to speak to the school. The author personally speaking about writing the book, her personal experiences, feelings, and fielding question would certainly create interest in actual history, not to mention the book. The book is not about why the government did what it did. That is the history everyone knows. To truly understand the whole history it is necessary to know about the experiences of the people who were in the internment camps, to be at school with their kids, to know what it did to their lives, how they moved past the trauma - different people different ways, different outcomes. It might motivate some of the students to take an interest and do their own research. Or, a generation or two later to.read.the.book!
Even thought there was passionate outrage, it is encouraging that parents are still getting involved in school district matters.
