Excellent article. Aedes aegypti also transmits Nile fever. Good to know the research is being used to try to create detectors. Of course since "isotretinoin, a derivative of vitamin A" seems to do some amount of prevention, wondering if taking vitamin A might.

I take Vitamin B complex. Seems to repel or else it is coincidental that there was more of a problem when I refrained from taking it.

Interesting article about what to eat, no doubt tradition rather than research. However . . . spraying with a weak solution of vinegar, rubbing skin with lemon grasss . . . who knows.

Some won't like the three items it is suggested we do not eat.

What attracts mosquitos is complicated. "This olfactory-mediated attraction to plants is not limited to Anopheles mosquitoes. Both male and female Cx. pipiens are attracted to plant extract and artificial chemical blends. In addition, a successful nectar meal can constitute a positive reinforcement for mosquitoes and modulate their behavior based on past experience. For example, the attraction to floral scent increased for both male and female Cx. pipiens pipiens when the floral scent was paired with a 5% sucrose solution. In Cx. quinquefasciatus both males and females could learn the association between odors and a sugar meal. From an article titled "Olfactory learning and chemical ecology of olfaction in disease vector mosquitoes: A life history perspective."
Most mosquitos LOVE me. One summer I was working outdoors on a former farm site when I was attacked by lots of mosquitos more than they were attacking others though I had lots of insect repellent on - in fact some of the mosquitos drowned in the sweat/ repellent mixture. I also came down with a mild case of dengue in rural Thailand in 2013 while doing volunteer work.
