I need to stop watching demonstrations of the ignorance of people. It's heart breaking to think that civilization may die with my generation. We were supposed to pass the torch to the next generation burning brighter than when it was handed to us, and here we are pissing on it

...and how every older generation thought that the younger was doomed. Yes. The problem is that we may have disagreed with our elders on methodology, but we shared a common culture and revered it. We weren't indoctrinated in our schools, we weren't bombarded by our popular media, with messages of hate. We weren't turned into automatons marching in lockstep (no, make that goosestep) to Utopia. That's different.
