Election deniers are running to control voting. Here's how they've fared so far

Election officials and democracy experts are sounding the alarm, as Republicans who deny the 2020 election results have now moved closer to overseeing the voting process in five different states.
Arizona could become No. 6 on Tuesday, when GOP voters there will decide in that state's primary whether they want to nominate one of the two election deniers running for secretary of state.
"These are the people who set the rules, who count the votes, and ultimately who are responsible for defending the will of the people," said Joanna Lydgate, the CEO of States United Action, a nonpartisan organization that has been tracking election-denying candidates running for governor, attorney general and secretary of state nationwide. States United shared its most recent findings exclusively with NPR ahead of their release.

MSG Stan Hutchison - My solution - election day is a mandatory federal holiday to allow maximum participation in voting, only mail in ballots allowed are for those living abroad. Valid ID to vote. Spare me the idiocy of saying people cannot get valid ID when ID is required for everything today. The only thing NOT requiring an ID today is voting. Even your costco card required a valid ID to obtain.

Mail-in ballots should be allowed. The more that vote, the better for democracy. I would support strong controls on mail-in ballots to ensure they are valid.
IDs? I have a sister-in-law, 84 years old, that has one form of ID; a social security card. She lives on the reservation, does not drive, and has direct deposit banking. Until the advent of ATM cards, she used cash only. Now, ask me how she can do that. I do not object to the requirement of ID, but there must be exceptions.
BTW, I don't have a Costco card. And, the only time I have to show ID is when entering a military base and using the base commissary or BX.
And voting here in South Dakota.

MSG Stan Hutchison - She has a social security card, a bank card, and mail that is delivered to her - those are enough to get a state ID. If strict controls can be applied to mail in ballots, I would limit them to senior citizens and disabled people. everyone else can get off their arses and go to a polling station
