Quite frankly - I would like to see the federal government try to confiscate firearms from the general populace. They do not have the power or authority to do so. even IF congress passes such a law, States have the right to completely ignore it, an injunction will be granted in a federal circuit court, and SCOTUS will strike down the legislation as unconstitutional. A well regulated militia is every able bodied person over 18 as citizens comprise the militia. national guard is not militia, that is a state government armed force. The federal government has the armed force of the country, the state government has the armed forces of the national guard of their state, and all the rest comprise the militia. That is the intent of those who wrote the document, that the citizens themselves should hold the means of defense and protection from not only foreign invasions, but from a Government that deliberately tries to strip citizens of their rights. The fastest way to an actual hot civil war will be trying to disarm the population.

Who will be in the right - those upholding the constitutional right to own and carry firearms or the Government trying to strip that right away? My stand will be upholding the constitutional right to own firearms. Government officials come and go, the constitution is forever.

To quote Benjamin Franklin: “Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.”

Every time any right in the bill of rights gets chipped away at or modified out of fear, we are ceeding essential liberties.

Government gives a carte blanche to the People authorizing the right to bear arms, so the Federal Government will not confiscate arms from the People. The U.S. Government will control the sale of arms through legislation and enforcement. The Federal Government will also control the use of arms to protect the People and stop unnecessary human sacrifice in the U.S.

CPT Gurinder (Gene) Rana - this is not the role of the federal government. Government gives NOTHING to the people, Government serves at the peoples will, and can be removed by force when all other avenues have been exhausted. This is the primary purpose of the second amendment. King George tried to disarm the colonies, historical fact, in order to subdue the colonies, it is why such a right was the second amendment to the constitution and enforces all the other rights in the bill of rights. You mistake the role of government, they do NOT lead us, they serve us. "shall not be infringed" was deliberately included to prevent government from controlling such things. And you also forget, any state can, by constitution, ignore such legislation. Just because the states agree to preventing automatic weapons does NOT mean any state cannot reassume their tenth amendment right and legislate allowing automatic weapons.

EDIT: please stop with the hyperbole "human sacrifice" - seriously? I gave 3 methods of murder that statistically have killed more people then rifles. Are those also methods of "human sacrifice"?

See Imminent threats to our Freedoms? Listen to Kim Klacik. The Assault Weapons is not part of the problem but Democrat-run cities and defunded Police. George Soros District Attorneys like Gascon in Los Angeles and Bragg in New York City. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7S_Xl2eOeeY

CPT Gurinder (Gene) Rana the criminals and mass murders don’t usually purchase their guns legally...red flag laws didn’t stop Hunter Biden from purchasing a hand gun.
IMHO the 2nd Amendment needs to be protected and we need to stop the illegal weapons entering Our Country through our ports and open border.

SPC Nancy Greene, assault rifles are manufactured in the U.S. and hand guns are also manufactured in our own country. I fail to comprehend how weapons get into the hands of children and criminals to wage war against the Icon of Democracy, the U.S. Hunter Biden owning a hand gun legally has no relevance in this case. Twisting everything into a political game is unprofessional and illogical.
