Remembering AEC LaVerne A. Greiner, USN, KIA, EC-121 Shootdown

AEC LaVerne Albert Greiner, USN
August 8, 1937 – April 15, 1969

Chief Aviation Electrician’s Mate LaVerne Albert Greiner entered the U.S. Navy from Colorado and served in Fleet Air Reconnaissance Squadron One (VQ-1). He was a crew member aboard Deep Sea 129 when it was shot down and he was lost in the crash. His body was unable to be recovered after the incident and he remains unaccounted-for.

Awards included: Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Air Medal (Strike/Flight), Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Distinguished Unit Citation, Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation, Good Conduct Medal, Navy Expeditionary Medal
