Critical item is to change the way we in the US think on some things that are always the same. One such items is to start including TW's military in on all training and exercises we do with Guatemala or Honduras. We only think of our limited items in INDO-PACOM - and we could be doing far more to built our own experience as well as well as TW and GUAT and HO. Time is no longer on our side in this -- but there is much we could be doing to help.

As a SOUTHCOM brat, growing up in Latin America (to include three years in Guatemala), I’m amazed about the lack of attention and assistance we provide to our neighbors to the south. There is so much potential down there and for years I’ve watched China’s influence establish a foothold starting with Panama.

Agree Mac - I recall back in 1999 have both the ROC and the PRC flags flying over different factories and places in Panama... before it became just PRC. We know war is coming in the next years - time to take the blinders off and start thinking about what we can do for Taiwan in the places their interests are at and we are already working in.
