It is my understanding that, first, the office of National Archives asked for the documents back at the first of the year but did not get all of them. Then a grand jury subpoena was issued in June, still with no reply. So, action was necessary.
Not political! National security!

Morning Stan. We partially agree. As I spoke with Kevin here National Archives retrieved boxes of documents. This situation has happened to almost every president we have had and none of the times it happened were the DOJ and FBI used to violate someone's home. There was a back and forth until all sides were OK with the end result.

Using the DOJ and FBI as tools to attack political adversaries will be the downfall of our Country. I hope we can agree on that. People are not going to stand for this.

SFC (Join to see) - I am just speculating here, but perhaps, just perhaps, the Feds got word that the documents may have been compromised, or perhaps they feared the documents may be destroyed. We will just have to wait and see.

You have no idea what is in the search warrant, what it was based on, what was recovered but you know there was an abuse of power? What if the FBI had information that there were more undisclosed documents, what if they had information the documents were being destroyed or in threat of being destroyed? What if a whole host of other scenarios. You've come to a political conclusion based on what you want to believe instead of one based on the evidence we actually have.

I'll be with you if there was an abuse of power but I'm suspecting there very much likely was not, particularly now that the DOJ is asking for it to be unsealed. But we'll see what's in it.

SPC Kevin Ford - I have formed no conclusions about this yet. I only say that many presidents have down this road before. This is the first time law enforcement was called on to settle such a disagreement about documents. To my thinking as long as they are secure, no harm, no foul. We will see if other things are at play not published yet, but if it's only documents the DOJ is on very shaky ground. We will have to agree to disagree.

SFC (Join to see) - We've got an ex POTUS that spent his entire time in office breaking norms and I suspect we will find with what documents he kept, he broke norms there too. Why? Because that's the pattern we've seen to date. When we've got someone who consistently breaks norms, we can't be surprised when the response to that will be a departure from norms. I've been talking about this for six years now. This shouldn't be any surprise to anyone.

SPC Kevin Ford - I have to respectively disagree. President Trump has demonstrated time and time again over his 4 years in office a deep respect for the law. He was stopped many times from what he wanted to do but didn't ride rough shod over the law the way the DOJ and FBI are today, instead he backed up, evaluated the situation and developed a successful plan/policy that stays within the bounds of the law. He did this successfully over and over again and is exactly why his policies were so good for our Country.
