That's awfully close to Pakistan . . . and to Oman which has traditionally monitored the traffic wanting to enter and exit the Arabian Gulf.

..."India is set to organise a meeting of a joint working group on Chabahar with Central Asian states in October to promote the use of the port, the people said. Steps are also being taken to integrate the port with the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC)."

Yes SGT (Join to see) and India is coordinating this integrated use of Chabahar through Asian states and the integration of the port with INSTC. This is absolutely correct Charlie.

What is more important is that China was in the fray to bag the contract for Chabahar with India and India won the competition here. China is keen on grabbing ports and waterways in the Gulf region and in the Indian Ocean to deny the U.S. and its western allies unimpeded access through the Indian Ocean, Arabian Sea and the Gulf of Aden. China has already grabbed ports in Djibouti, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The Chabahar contract would have made China a naval force to recon with in the Gulf, despite the presence of the U.S. Fifth Fleet in Bahrain.
