I never liked the fleece as an outer garment. I understand it officially can be worn as such. But it lacks in conformity with other outer garments, does not look like a uniform, and is often worn specifically because it is soft and comfy, not because it is cold out.
Soldiers jump at ANY chance to don the unprofessional looking fleece.
Yes, function over form. All day, every day. BUT.....
Part of the "function" of a uniform is..... uniformity. And part of the function of a MILITARY uniform is professional appearance.

The point is the fleece can be worn but NOT as an outer garment. It's overall appearance isn't all that great and never has been but works fine under more presentable jackets. I never though on seeing those fleece "Liners" used as an outer garment even looked neat and it doesn't in fact I think it looks pretty sloppy.

MSG (Join to see) - you're lucky I myself have never worn the fleece while in uniform I run hot, so I was good with Poly Ps and extra Tee even in the mountains of Afghanistan. But the garment is in the regs so suck it up commander LOL. I have seen to many cheese dick leaders get pissy over the dumbest shit. Had a COL chew my ass because I was smoking sitting on cases of G Nades and Bullets by the time, he was done I had finished and stubbed it on the case. I asked him Sir do really think my smoke can catch the wood of the crates on fire? He calls me insubordinate stomped off LOL Like I said Pissy people.
