Why Don't They Build It Today? The Most Brilliant Aircraft Design Ever

The H-54 Skycrane was same concept with a payload of 18-24,000 lbs. Retired it in 91 but still used commercially.

I think we've moved beyond this but it is interesting

An aviation concept well ahead of its time. I like the "drop n go" concept but see configuration issues with today's big blowers on birds like the 747 & A-380. Good post PO1 William "Chip" Nagel
