There are consequences in any job area including civilian. You won't lose part of Your wages for poor performance, You will receive none because You will be fired. or otherwise terminated. Many things employers in the civilian world do get away with won't fly in the Military , they don't have an IG to bring things to the attention of. In the Military Your ability to pay for a lawyer has no beating unless You hire Your own legal council, in the civilian world it based on Your ability to pay. Abuses from employers are a lot more commonplace in the civilian world, to counter that some have Unions, without that there usually is nothing to protect them. There are standards required in the Military that granted have no place in the civilian workplace but are needed to maintain proper order. In either case proper effort and commitment to do You job and work as part of a team have positive results. The concept of teamwork however in the Military is far superior to anything You will find outside. There are from time to time Toxic leaders in either setting which can still throw things out of balance.
In most cases its not that hard to stay out of trouble, it doesn't take a lot of effort.

I was ready to blast this list's credibility because I was sure it wouldn't include the Navy's bread and water punishment. To my surprise, that was #1. Cool.

The Air Force doesn't have a bread and water punishment, inmates etc still get the same food everybody else does. On an Article 15 also You still have the right to consult with Legal council and it can also be appealed or reviewed. of course usually AF isn't in the controlled more isolated area that some Navy ships may be where immediate action may not be an option.
